About
My given name is oddly enough Walter, but in their confusion at the birth of their first and only child, my parents named me something legally that they never called me. Wes is all I was ever called, and in the music world I go by Wesly. There are only a couple people that call me Walter, namely the Dr’s office and my best friend because he likes to mess with me, and he abides by legalities I guess.
I am a passionate musician, and I work hard to get that passion across in my music. I am obviously a bit biased, but I think I have a fairly eclectic sound that can appeal to a wide variety of people. My taste is music is broad, and I naturally write that way I think too. I describe my music like this: “Wesly is rock music wrapped up in a delicious burrito of folk, alternative, a hint of pop, and the all necessary face melting on top.”
Could my music suck the big one? It very well might. But it is me putting a chunk of my soul out for the world to see, and if it is a bloody wreck then that’s fine – because it’s me and in that case – a bloody wreck is what I am. My first album shows the eclectic style I am talking about, with songs ranging from progressive rock, classical, folk, some quirk (which I can’t escape at times since one of my favorite bands growing up was They Might Be Giants), gospel, and even a cheesy love song.
So far the two greatest experiences I have had as a musician was watching and meeting Les Paul at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York. Second was getting some feedback from famed producer/sound engineer/musician Jack Douglas. He has worked with more names than I care to write about – but for me the coolest is all his work with John Lennon. Jack said this about Wesly: “I really enjoyed your music, It is very good and has a unique feel.” Since I am all westernized and naturally get into individualistic crap – It was a big compliment for Jack Douglas to say that I have at little a little something different and unique to offer.
Thanks for checking out my site and especially my music!
I will keep working away – trying to grow as an individual and a musician. Hopefully I can do some good in the world while I am at it.
